Create a Plan of Attack

When it comes to spring cleaning, this means creating a cleaning schedule that covers every nook and cranny of your home.

A spring clean is just a deep clean, so make a list and start scheduling those extra cleaning tasks into your planner.

So, let’s reframe our thoughts and plans:

✅ Be honest about how much time and energy you really have

Set Time Goals For Cleaning

There is so much to do when it comes to spring cleaning that we can often forget that it takes longer or we just haven’t planned enough time to do the tasks involved.

Get in the habit of timing yourself for the tasks that you do, this will give you insight into the time it’s going to take and then you can plug these timings into your day because you know how long each task will take.

Once you know how long a task takes to do you can easily use this information and plan it into your day. No more guessing how long something is going to take, you will already know.

🕒 Set timers regularly

🕒 Challenge yourself to beat the clock

🕒 Use time to motivate you to clean fast

Don’t Let Neglected Areas Get Missed

One of the benefits of having a plan is that it allows you to be intentional about which areas of your home get the most attention.

If there are certain areas that tend to get neglected during regular cleaning, make those your priority during spring cleaning.

✅ Deep cleaning the fridge

✅ Window cleaning ( Best window cleaning system, in my opinion )

✅ Oven cleaning

Carpet cleaning

Whatever it is, making these neglected areas a priority will help you feel like you’ve really accomplished something when you’re finished.

If you know the areas that get neglected the most maybe think about getting someone else in the family to take over that task, if no one wants it, consider hiring the task out to a company to complete.

Get the Whole Family Involved With The Cleaning

CCleaning the house is a lot easier—and more fun—when everyone pitches in.

Nothing like having the work cut because there are other people who are pitching in and helping!

✅ Create a plan and share with family

Assign tasks based on age, ability and time available

✅ Create a reason for everyone to pitch in

Try The Spring Cleaning Bingo Method

This idea was something I recently read about in an article published on Homes and Gardens, and they suggested using a basic bingo card with a selection of tasks you want to do and you get to cross them off.

I think taking this process slightly further with the idea of awarding a prize to those in the family that completes their bingo card first.

The point of eco-friendly isn’t just based on the planet, it’s also about what you are comfortable using in your home and potentially exposing your family to toxins.

Get The Kids Involved

But don’t stop there, if they live there they should take on some cleaning responsibilities too, create a chore chart and get those tasks shared with everyone who lives in the home.

You may even find that your kids enjoy helping out more than you thought they would.

Don’t forget to reward them for their hard work with some quality family time when you’re done.

Cleaning With Toddles Around

If you have ever cleaned with toddlers around you will understand the frustration that can come with doing any sort of task.

✅ Give yourself more time to do the tasks

✅ Get them involved with age appropriate tasks

✅ Consider cleaning during nap time or when other people are entertaining the toddler
